AI visibility for electricians
When someone asks ChatGPT or Gemini for an electrician, the system needs to understand who the business is, what electrical work it does, where it operates and what evidence supports that information. A working website alone does not guarantee a place in the answer.

Based on reviews and reputation, I'd recommend:
AI doesn't name you.
It recommended your competitors in your town. You weren't in the answer.
Electrician search intent
One trade, several customer questions
An electrical business may need to be understood for more than the broad word “electrician”. Customers ask about a service, a place and sometimes urgency or context. Actual audit questions are tailored to the business rather than copied identically across every electrician.
- electrician in [town]
- emergency electrician in [town]
- EV charger installer in [town]
- consumer unit replacement
- rewiring
- EICR or landlord certificate
- commercial electrician
- fault finding
Why an electrician can be missed
These are possible gaps a measurement may uncover, not assumptions about every electrical business:
- Several services are compressed into one homepage with no useful detail for each.
- Service areas are vague, or are not connected clearly to the work offered.
- Website and directory information use different business names, services or locations.
- Useful evidence exists on an external profile but is not reinforced by the business website.
- A competitor provides clearer service-and-location evidence for the same question.
- Technical crawl issues make an important service page difficult for a system to read.
A practical structure
Make the service and the place unambiguous
These are information and evidence relationships AI systems may use. They are not confirmed or guaranteed ranking factors.
WHAT
Make the electrical work clear: for example rewiring, fault finding, EICRs or EV charger installation, but only where the business actually provides it.
WHERE
Connect those services to accurate service areas without creating unsupported town pages or vague coverage claims.
WHO
Keep the exact business identity consistent across the website and relevant external profiles.
EVIDENCE
Make the website and other crawlable sources support the service, location and business relationships an answer needs.
Useful pages might cover genuine work such as domestic or commercial electrical work, EV charging, EICRs, rewires, fault finding or emergency work. Do not create a page for a service the business does not offer, or a near-identical page for every town.
What the available electrician data can tell us
Electricians are included in Findable’s wider multi-trade research. The current internal niche analysis contains 12 electrician business audits in one town and 76 answered engine cells. It records 36 ChatGPT question cells, with the business named in 11, and 36 Gemini cells, with none named.
That is useful evidence that electrician questions can be measured, but it is not a representative national electrician study: the sample covers one town, has no repeat-run questions, and is explicitly too thin for confident trade-wide conclusions. We therefore do not publish a claimed electrician percentage or extrapolate it to all electricians.

What Findable measures
The evidence behind an electrician audit
- 01 Whether the electrical business is named for customer-style questions.
- 02 Which competitors are named instead, where the answer provides that signal.
- 03 Which websites, directories and other sources are cited.
- 04 Whether the same approved questions produce a different result after four weeks.
The methodology explains the definitions and limitations.
Measure before you change the site
-
Measure
Ask the approved electrician questions and record what is named.
-
Find gaps
Identify service, location, content and technical opportunities.
-
Improve evidence
Improve relevant pages and the evidence systems can read.
-
Remeasure
Ask the same questions again after four weeks.
A Google ranking can help discovery, but it does not automatically make ChatGPT or Gemini name an electrician. This is measured visibility, not a promise to control either system. See the AI SEO context and ChatGPT guide.
941 businesses, 17 trades, 223 towns. The wider research records 61,848 citations across UK local-business audits. These figures are not electrician-only results. Read the research.
Electrician questions
Practical answers
How can an electrician appear in ChatGPT?
Start with clear, consistent evidence about the electrical business, its services and the places it serves. Findable measures customer-style questions, then identifies which pages and sources leave those relationships unclear. No one can guarantee a recommendation.
Does Google ranking help with AI visibility?
It can help people discover a business, but a Google ranking or index entry does not guarantee that ChatGPT or Gemini will name the business. They may use different sources and return different answers.
Do electricians need separate service pages?
Only for services the business genuinely offers and customers actually ask about. A useful page for rewiring, EICRs or EV charging can be clearer than one crowded homepage; thin pages with little unique information are not a solution.
Should I create pages for every town I cover?
No. Location pages should exist only where they provide specific, useful information about the service and area. Repeating a town name without new evidence creates thin content rather than clarity.
Does an EV charger service need its own page?
If EV charger installation is a real service and customers search for it, a useful dedicated page may make the service easier to understand. The right structure depends on the individual business, evidence and service area.
Do directories and reviews matter?
Directories, profiles and reviews can be part of the evidence an AI system reads, but being listed or reviewed is not the same as being recommended. Findable checks which sources appear in measured answers.
Can you guarantee ChatGPT recommends my electrical business?
No. AI answers vary, models and sources change, and recommendations are not fixed rankings. Findable measures whether visibility improves under the published guarantee terms.
How do you measure improvement?
We record whether the business is named for an approved set of customer-style questions, then ask the same questions again after four weeks and compare the results.
Do I need a new website?
Not necessarily. Clearer existing pages, service and location information, consistent business details or technical fixes may be enough. A rebuild is considered only when the evidence shows it is justified.
